Lifehack: want to do something more? Figure out how to do it on your phone.
Read more books? Get an ebook reader or download audiobooks. Learn to program? Get Termux for Android & an ebook from No Starch Press. CAD? Onshape has an app. Reconnect with an old friend? Shoot them a text!
If you want to do it, you can probably do it on your phone. It’s like 2x more annoying as an interface but 10x easier to do on impulse. My phone is now by far my most-used compute platform.
For example, doing yoga. It’s a little surprising just how much the Down Dog Yoga app has improved my daily life. “Push button for a yoga workout at your skill level in your available time” is huge for reducing the decision fatigue of building a workout.
I can block in 15, 30, 60 minutes and just push the button, then follow the steps and know that I’ll get a good workout. I can kinda do it anywhere - I’ve done a session on a towel in a hotel room before.
I’ve also used my phone to:
- Learn Rust
- Read dozens of books
- Organize an Unconference
- Write this website (including setting up hosting!)
- Research electronics components for projects
- Apply to jobs
- Learn to read sheet music
- Design 3d components
- See a doctor
- Administrate my homelab
